LCS first graders have been hard at work creating these beautiful Peruvian textiles with Mrs. Moench.
Students were introduced to the art of weaving, and the beautiful colors and patterns used in Peruvian textiles. They are still made today with natural materials such as sheep, llama and alpaca wool. The dyes used are derived from natural sources such as the eucalyptus leaf and the cochineal bug. Peruvians follow recipes that were originally used by the ancient Andean people and passed down through generations.
